Irani President Raisi Missing after Helicopter Crash

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi is reportedly missing after a helicopter he was traveling in made a “hard landing,” media reports.

Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian, Governor of East Azerbaijan province Malek Rahmati and others were also onboard the convoy, which comprised of three helicopters, of which the other two have landed safely.

The accident occurred when Raisi was returning from his visit of East Azerbaijan province where he inaugurated a dam project in the company of his Azeri counterpart, Ilham Aliev, on the border between the two countries.

Adverse weather conditions, including heavy fog, are hampering rescue efforts and the helicopter is still missing. Iran’s Fars News Agency calls on Iranians to pray for President Raisi.

A large-scale search operation is underway, involving Red Crescent rescue teams, military personnel, and police support units. Foggy conditions in the area are complicating efforts to locate the helicopter and determine its status.

Other officials onboard included the governor of East Azerbaijan province and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian. The situation has prompted urgent prayers and concern across the nation.

Prime Minister Pakistan Shahbaz Sharif shared a tweet on his official X account sharing: “Our prayers and best wishes are with Hon.President Raisi and the entire Iranian nation.”
